THE PRODUCT : OIL COOLER
The oil cooler sits behind the oil filter and cools the engine oil to maintain engine oil temperature.
It is essential to replace the oil cooler when rebuilding the engine, especially if the engine is being rebuilt due to failure.
Metal particles and swarf from a failed engine fill up in the oil cooler and if not replaced these will circulate around the engine once repaired causing damage.
Due to the nature of how the oil coolers are made (They contain narrow fins internally), it is impossible to properly clean them out, and replacement of the oil cooler is the best option.
